The Pro Natura Foundation, based in East Kalimantan (Indonesian Borneo), was established in 2013. Our main focus is to assist with conservation of forests and environmental awareness building.
Pro Natura works under an MoU with Provincial Government and working agreements with the local Forestry Department and Local Government.

PROTECTION OF THE SUNGAI WAIN FOREST
FOREST FIRE PREVENTION AND COAL FIRE EXTINGUISHING
Pro Natura Foundation has taken an active role in supporting the new Forest Management Unit in Balikpapan since 2016 with protection of the Sungai Wain Forest through facilitating 24/7 community patrol teams. These teams focus on prevention of forest fires, active anti-poaching patrols and wildlife monitoring.

ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION AND AWARENESS
STRAY ANIMALS MANAGEMENT
Now visited by more than 70.000 local visitors each year, the KWPLH sun bear education center is unique as the only conservation education center in all of Indonesian Borneo. Here Pro Natura assist with all aspects of site management: caretaking of the sun bears and their forest enclosure, gardens, development and maintenance of relevant environmental education exhibits, and a (stray) domestic animal programme.
